about me
I'd like to think of myself as an individual with a hunger for anything new. I love to read new books, try new foods and constantly write new stories in new places. In the past year, I have lived in all four US timezones: California, Colorado, Tennessee and New York. I have loved each one so much so don't make me choose a favorite!
I'm back in San Diego for my senior year after my summer in Nashville interning for HarperCollins Christian Publishing under the W team. It was a life-changing experience because I learned brand new skills like editing in Chicago Style and completing format checks, I met AWESOME people and I found my love of books again. I also fell in love with a city that I never knew would hold a place in my heart, but now it's definitely an option for when I finish school (which is frighteningly close).
A year ago, I was in New York City working at The Story Exchange where I was able to publish a piece in Forbes. I also lived in Manhattan in between Wall Street and Battery Park, which was too much fun and way too unrealistic, but still, a girl can dream. The city taught me so much by showing me just how far I've come in my writing abilities and just how strong I am as a young woman.
Now, in my senior year of college (yikes, how did we get here?), I am leading a team of editors, social media and business managers, staff writers and a layout team as editor-in-chief of PLNU's student-run newspaper, The Point. There are so many stories to tell on this campus and not enough time to tell them all, but I can try my best.
I love dogs and I have a terrier mix of my own named Raji, after former Green Bay Packer BJ Raji. My three favorite books are Lit by Mary Karr, The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah, and Beartown by Fredrik Backman. I golf, snowboard, ski, play volleyball and run (though not very well) in my free time. I've been trying out yoga but I'm about as flexible as a piece of sheet metal and about as calm as a puppy. If you're looking for me, I'm usually scribbling away in new journal, at some sporting event taking stats, or I am out eating new foods and enjoying this beautiful city I live in.
I love this world and exploring all of the people and places in it. I can't wait to see where this next year takes me.
